From the day your LayerQuestar line starts production, our engineering team is reachable by WhatsApp, email and video call — for fault diagnosis, process tuning, spare parts, and on-site visits worldwide.
Different problems need different channels. Use this guide to reach the right type of support as quickly as possible.
Send a message, photo, or short video of the issue. Our engineers can often diagnose problems from a video clip — no need to describe everything in words.
For detailed technical queries, spare parts requests, or issues that require attaching documents, photos, or data logs. Creates a written record for both sides.
A live session with a LayerQuestar engineer. You show us the machine running in real time — we watch, ask questions, and guide your operator through adjustments step by step.
A LayerQuestar engineer travels to your factory. Used for initial machine installation, commissioning, major fault diagnosis that cannot be resolved remotely, or intensive operator training.
The majority of blown film machine issues can be diagnosed and resolved remotely — if you can describe the symptom and share a photo or short video. Here is an honest breakdown of what remote support covers.
Caused by die gap misalignment, air ring imbalance, or temperature zone deviation. Diagnosable from thickness measurement data and a photo of the bubble. Adjustable via parameter guidance.
Usually a cooling air volume, frost line height, or screw speed balance issue. A 30-second video of the bubble is enough for diagnosis in most cases.
OMRON PID parameter reset, thermocouple check procedure, or heater band continuity test — all guidable step by step via WhatsApp or video call.
Diagnosable from a photo of the film held up to light. Root cause is usually contamination, screen pack condition, or melt temperature. Corrective steps can be guided remotely.
Layer ratio adjustment, sealing temperature guidance, or resin blend recommendation — all addressable remotely with the right process data from your side.
Nip roll pressure, tension control, and winding speed parameters. Adjustable via HMI with remote guidance.
We have the full electrical schematics and PLC logic for every machine we build. Send us the alarm code and we can trace the root cause directly.
Temperature profile, screw speed, and blow-up ratio adjustments for a new material. Guidable remotely if you provide the resin data sheet.
First-time installation requires physical alignment of the die head, air ring, haul-off unit, and winding station. This cannot be done remotely.
Physical disassembly and reassembly. We can guide preparation remotely, but the replacement itself requires hands-on work — either your trained technician or our engineer.
Major drive component failure requires physical inspection, part removal, and replacement. Remote diagnosis can confirm the root cause and prepare the parts list, but repair is on-site.
Severe contamination or degraded material in the die head requires physical disassembly and cleaning. We can guide the procedure, but execution is on-site.
Hands-on training at the machine is significantly more effective than remote instruction for new operators. We recommend an on-site session for any new team.
Need an on-site visit? See our full cost policy below — we keep it transparent.
View On-Site Cost PolicyA machine fault and a process problem are two different things. If your line is mechanically sound but the film quality does not meet your customer's specification, that is a process engineering question — and it is something we can help with.
Most Chinese machinery manufacturers provide repair support. LayerQuestar also provides process support — helping you optimise film quality, reduce material waste, and hit your customer's specification, not just keep the machine running.
We review your die gap settings, air ring balance, temperature profile, and screw speed ratio — and provide a corrected parameter set to trial.
We analyse your layer structure, sealing layer resin selection, and sealing temperature window — and recommend adjustments to the layer ratio or resin grade if needed.
Cooling rate, quench air volume, frost line height, and resin melt index all affect optical properties. We work through each variable with you systematically.
New material types require a full parameter review. We provide a starting parameter set based on the resin data sheet, then refine it based on your trial results.
We review screw speed, melt pressure, motor current draw, and temperature profile to identify where the bottleneck is and what can be adjusted.
Every LayerQuestar machine ships with a full documentation package. Additional resources are available here for registered customers.
Full operation, maintenance, and electrical manuals — one set per machine model. Shipped in print with the machine. PDF available on request via email.
A structured troubleshooting reference covering the 15 most common blown film machine faults — symptom, probable cause, and corrective action for each.
Exploded diagrams and part numbers for wear components — screw, barrel, heater bands, thermocouple, screen pack, nip roll rubber, and more. Use this to order the correct part first time.
Step-by-step video guides for machine startup, shutdown, screen pack change, die head cleaning, and parameter adjustment. Currently in production — available soon.

A machine is a long-term investment. LayerQuestar commits to supplying spare parts for every machine model for a minimum of 15 years from the date of manufacture.
Spare parts availability for every machine model, minimum 15 years from manufacture date. Wear parts, electrical components, and mechanical assemblies.
Commonly requested wear parts — screw tips, heater bands, thermocouples, screen packs, nip roll rubber — are held in stock and dispatched promptly after order confirmation.
All replacement parts are manufactured to the same specification as the original — same material grade, same dimensional tolerance. No substitution without notification.
A recommended set of fast-wear consumables is available with every new machine order. Covers the most commonly replaced items for the first 12–18 months of operation.
| Part | Typical Service Life | Replacement Indicator |
|---|---|---|
| Screw & barrel (WC bi-metallic) | 8–10 years under normal PE/PP operation | Output drop at same screw speed; increased melt temperature required |
| Heater bands (barrel zones) | 2–4 years depending on cycling frequency | Zone fails to reach setpoint; resistance check fails |
| Thermocouples | 2–5 years | Erratic temperature reading; zone deviation alarm |
| Screen pack / filter screens | Consumable — change frequency depends on material cleanliness | Melt pressure rise; output drop; gel count increase in film |
| Nip roll rubber | 1–3 years depending on film abrasiveness | Uneven nip pressure; film tracking issues; surface marking |
| Gearbox oil | Change every 2,000 hours or annually | Scheduled maintenance — do not wait for symptoms |
| Die head O-rings & seals | 3–5 years | Melt leakage at die head joints |
Service life figures are indicative under standard PE/PP operation with clean resin. Abrasive materials, high-filler compounds, or PCR content with contamination will reduce wear part life. Actual service life varies by operating conditions.
Our technical support team is available Monday to Friday, 08:30–17:30 China Standard Time (UTC+8). For customers in significantly different time zones — Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, or the Americas — we recommend sending a WhatsApp message or email outside our hours. We respond to all messages on the next business day, and for urgent issues we aim to respond within 4 hours of our working day starting.
First, check the HMI alarm display and note the alarm code. Your operation manual includes a fault code reference table — many alarms have a clear cause and a defined reset procedure that your operator can follow without waiting for our team. If the alarm code is not in the manual or the reset procedure does not resolve the issue, send us a WhatsApp message with the alarm code and a photo of the HMI screen. We will respond as soon as our working day begins and aim to have a diagnosis for you within 4 hours of that.
Yes — in many cases a short video is enough for a diagnosis. For bubble instability, film surface defects, winding problems, and unusual mechanical behaviour, a 20–30 second video of the machine running gives our engineers significantly more information than a written description. Send the video via WhatsApp along with the current temperature settings and screw speed, and we will work from there. For electrical faults, a photo of the HMI alarm screen and the control cabinet display is usually sufficient.
Standard wear parts — heater bands, thermocouples, screen packs, nip roll rubber — are held in stock and can typically be dispatched within a few business days of order confirmation. Transit time depends on your location and the shipping method selected. For remote locations or urgent requirements, express air freight is available. Major mechanical components such as screws, barrels, and gearbox assemblies may require a lead time for manufacture — contact us with your machine model and serial number for a specific lead time.
Yes. LayerQuestar commits to spare parts supply for a minimum of 15 years from the manufacture date of every machine we build. Technical support — remote diagnosis, parameter guidance, and process engineering assistance — is available for the full service life of the machine, regardless of age. When contacting us about an older machine, please have the machine model number and serial number available so we can pull the original build records.
Yes — material changeover guidance is part of our process engineering support. Send us the data sheet for the new resin (melt flow index, density, processing temperature range) and your current machine configuration. We will provide a recommended starting parameter set — temperature profile, screw speed, blow-up ratio — for you to trial. We then refine the parameters based on your trial results. Note: if you are considering switching to PLA/PBAT biodegradable materials, this requires a dedicated machine configuration and is not compatible with standard PE/PP machines. Contact us to discuss the right equipment for biodegradable film production.
Having the following information ready will significantly speed up diagnosis:
The more of this information you can provide upfront, the faster we can give you a useful answer.
Yes. LayerQuestar provides on-site engineer visits worldwide — we have sent engineers to customer factories across Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, South America, and Europe. The customer is responsible for the engineer's travel, accommodation, and daily allowance costs as detailed in our on-site cost policy above. There is no geographic restriction on on-site service — if you can arrange the logistics, we can send an engineer.
Send us a WhatsApp message with a description of the issue — or book a video call with our engineering team. We respond within 4 hours during business hours.
