Every LayerQuestar machine includes on-site commissioning by a factory-trained engineer. We do not consider the job done until your line is producing qualified film at the contracted output rate.
Commissioning is the process of installing, calibrating, and verifying your machine at your factory — from the moment the crates arrive to the moment qualified film rolls off the line. It is not a training session. It is a performance verification.
Before shipment, your machine runs a 72-hour continuous test at our Zhejiang facility. Results are documented and provided to you as the FAT report.
Machine ships by sea freight in export-grade crating. Estimated transit time is confirmed at order. You are notified of the arrival date in advance so your site is ready.
Our engineer arrives at your factory and begins the 7-day commissioning process. This is the core of this page — detailed below.
Engineer and customer sign the commissioning acceptance report. Warranty period begins from this date. Your operator takes over a verified, running line.
LayerQuestar Machinery provides factory-trained on-site commissioning engineers for all blown film machine installations across 120+ countries. The commissioning period covers mechanical assembly, electrical connection verification, process parameter setup, trial production runs, and operator handover — concluding with a signed acceptance report that marks the start of the 2-year warranty period.
The most common cause of commissioning delays is not the machine — it is the site not being ready. Complete this checklist before the engineer's arrival date and your 7 days will be used productively.
This is the standard 7-calendar-day commissioning schedule. Actual progress depends on site readiness and machine configuration. The engineer does not leave until the acceptance criteria are met.
If the acceptance criteria have not been met by Day 7 due to machine-related issues, the engineer extends the stay at no additional labor charge. The maximum extended stay is 10 calendar days total. Additional daily living allowance of $100 USD continues to apply for each extended day.
Commissioning is not complete when the machine is assembled. It is complete when it meets every item on the written acceptance criteria document — verified, measured, and signed by both parties.
Measured output (kg/h) meets or exceeds the contracted specification under standard operating conditions with the customer's specified resin.
Thickness variation across the film width is within ±8% of the target gauge, measured at a minimum of 8 points across the lay-flat width.
Film bubble maintains stable geometry during continuous operation without manual intervention under standard ambient conditions.
All barrel and die head temperature zones hold within ±1°C of setpoint under stable continuous operation.
Machine completes a minimum 4-hour uninterrupted production run without fault stops, producing film that meets the above criteria throughout.
Emergency stop, overtemperature protection, and motor overload protection all tested and confirmed functional before sign-off.
Operator manual, wiring diagrams, spare parts catalogue, process parameter reference sheet, and signed commissioning report all delivered to the customer before engineer departure.
Every commissioning concludes with a signed acceptance report — a formal record that all criteria have been met. This document marks the official start of your 2-year warranty period.
The full acceptance criteria document is available for download before you place an order. We encourage you to review it as part of your supplier evaluation.
Download Acceptance CriteriaNo hidden charges. No surprises on arrival. Every cost item is confirmed in writing before the engineer departs China.
A full written cost estimate — covering airfare, visa, accommodation and daily allowance — is provided and agreed before the engineer departs. You will not receive an invoice for items not confirmed in advance.
Questions we hear from customers planning their first installation — answered directly.
The engineer's labor — 7 days of professional time — is included in your machine contract at no additional charge. There is no catch. What you do pay for is the practical cost of getting the engineer to your country: return airfare, visa fees, accommodation, and a daily living allowance of $100 USD per day. These costs are confirmed in writing before the engineer departs, so you know the full number in advance.
If the site is not ready — power not connected, floor not cleared, forklift not available — the 7-day clock still starts on the engineer's arrival day. Days spent waiting for site preparation count against the 7-day period. This is why we provide the preparation checklist well in advance and recommend completing it at least 5 days before the engineer's scheduled arrival.
If the acceptance criteria have not been met due to a machine-related issue, the engineer extends the stay at no additional labor charge. The maximum total stay is 10 calendar days. During any extended days, the daily living allowance of $100 USD continues to apply. If the issue cannot be resolved on-site within 10 days, it transitions to a warranty claim and is handled through our after-sales process — replacement parts are dispatched within 48 hours from our Zhejiang warehouse.
Our engineers communicate in Chinese. Phone translation apps are the standard working method and are sufficient for most commissioning tasks. All machine labels, HMI screens, and the operator manual are in English, which helps bridge the gap. Having one team member with basic English on your side significantly speeds up communication. For safety-critical procedures — electrical connections, emergency stop sequences — our engineers use illustrated step cards that do not rely on language.
The exact quantity depends on your machine's output rate and the number of trial runs required. As a general reference, plan for enough material to run the machine at full output for a minimum of 8 hours of trial production across Days 5–6. Your commissioning plan — provided before the engineer departs — will include a specific material quantity recommendation for your configuration. All trial material is provided by the customer; LayerQuestar does not supply resin.
Yes. You or your representative are welcome to visit our Zhejiang facility to witness the 72-hour FAT run before final payment and shipment. Many customers find this valuable — you see the machine running, meet the engineer who will commission it at your site, and can raise any questions before the machine leaves our factory. Contact us to schedule a FAT witness visit.
A minimum 5-tonne forklift is required for most configurations. The exact requirement depends on your machine model — the heaviest single crate weight is listed in the packing list provided with your order. If your facility has an overhead crane, the rated capacity should meet or exceed the heaviest crate weight. Our engineer supervises the unloading and positioning process but does not operate lifting equipment — that is the customer's responsibility.
The 2-year warranty begins on the date both parties sign the commissioning acceptance report — the day the engineer confirms the machine meets all acceptance criteria and hands over to your operator. It does not start on the shipping date or delivery date. This means if installation takes several weeks after delivery, you still receive a full 2 years of warranty coverage from the moment your line is verified and running.
Share your factory location and machine model with our service team. We will confirm the commissioning schedule, engineer travel plan, and a written cost estimate — before you commit to anything.
