Why LayerQuestar

What Sets Our Bag Making Machines Apart

Four engineering and service commitments that apply across every machine type in the LayerQuestar bag making range.

Servo & VFD Drive Options Across the Range

High-output models such as the LQ-430×2 and LQ-SSCB-500×2 run servo-driven feed and cut systems for precise bag length control and minimal film waste. Entry-level models offer VFD drive for lower upfront cost. Both drive systems are available — you choose based on your output target and budget.

CE Certified. 72-Hour Factory Run Test.

Every LayerQuestar bag making machine carries CE certification and undergoes a 72-hour continuous factory acceptance test before shipment. Speed stability, sealing consistency, cutting accuracy and all electrical systems are verified under full production load — not just a brief bench check.

CE Certified
Built for Long-Run Production

Sealing bars use hardened alloy tooling. Drive components are sized for continuous multi-shift operation, not just rated peak speed. Wear parts — sealing wire, blades, belts — are stocked and available for rapid dispatch. The machine you buy is built to run, not just to demonstrate.

120+ Bag Factories. 120+ Countries.

LayerQuestar bag making machines are operating in factories across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, South America and Europe. The control cabinet is fully English-labeled. Remote commissioning support, video-guided installation and on-site service visits are all available — regardless of where your factory is located.

Complete Line

Bag Making Machines Within a Complete Production Line

A bag making machine sits at the centre of a three-stage production process. LayerQuestar supplies every stage — or just the stage you need.

Blown Film Machine Resin → PE film rolls
1–9 layer co-extrusion
Bag Making Machine Film rolls → finished bags
7 machine types
Flexographic Printer Film or bag printing
2–8 color stack-type

Already have a film supply? You can purchase the bag making machine independently.

LayerQuestar bag making machines can be purchased as standalone equipment and integrated directly into your existing film supply chain. You are not required to purchase a blown film machine or printer at the same time. If you later want to bring film production in-house, the upstream equipment can be added without replacing the bag making line.

Specialist Machine

Producing Glove Bags
or Specialty Poly Gloves?

Glove bag production requires a dedicated machine with glove-form tooling, precise finger-seal geometry and specific film handling for thin PE or CPE materials. LayerQuestar's glove bag machine is a separate specialist line — not a configuration of the standard bag making range.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions
About Bag Making Machines

Answers to the questions buyers ask most often when comparing and purchasing plastic bag making equipment.

What is the difference between a servo-driven and a VFD-driven bag making machine?

A servo-driven machine uses a servo motor with closed-loop position feedback to control the film feed and cutting cycle. This gives precise, repeatable bag length accuracy — typically within ±1mm — and allows the machine to run at higher speeds with lower film waste. Servo systems are the preferred choice for high-volume production and for bags with printed registration marks.

A VFD (variable frequency drive) machine uses an AC induction motor with variable speed control. It is mechanically simpler, lower in upfront cost, and well-suited to plain-film bags where absolute length precision is less critical. LayerQuestar offers both drive options across the bag making range — the right choice depends on your output target, bag type and budget.

Can I buy a bag making machine without also buying a blown film machine?

Yes. LayerQuestar bag making machines are sold as standalone equipment and can be integrated with any existing film roll supply. If you are already purchasing PE film rolls from a supplier, you can purchase a bag making machine independently and begin production immediately.

If you later decide to bring film production in-house, a LayerQuestar blown film machine can be added upstream without requiring any modification to the bag making line.

What should I check when comparing bag making machines from different suppliers?

Three hardware specifications matter most when comparing machines at similar price points:

1. Drive system brand and type. Confirm whether the servo motor is a recognised brand (e.g. Delta, Panasonic, Yaskawa) or a generic unit. The servo motor directly affects bag length accuracy and long-term reliability.

2. Sealing bar material and construction. The sealing element should be made from hardened alloy with replaceable sealing wire. Ask how long the sealing bar lasts under continuous production and whether replacement parts are stocked.

3. Control system. Confirm whether the PLC and HMI are branded components (e.g. Siemens, Mitsubishi, Delta) and whether the interface is available in English. A well-documented control system reduces commissioning time and makes remote troubleshooting significantly easier.

How many operators does a bag making machine require per shift?

Most LayerQuestar bag making machines can be operated by 1–2 people per shift under normal production conditions. A single operator handles machine monitoring, film roll changes and parameter adjustments. A second person is typically assigned to output collection, counting and packing — particularly on high-speed dual-lane models.

Exact staffing depends on the machine type, output speed and whether downstream packing is automated or manual.

What is the difference between a C-fold garbage bag machine and a star-seal garbage bag machine?

A C-fold machine (such as the LQ-GB-1000 / LQ-GB-1200) folds the film into a C-shape before sealing and rolling. The resulting bag has a flat bottom seal and is rolled into a compact dispensing roll — the standard format for supermarket shelf bin liners.

A star-seal machine (such as the LQ-GB2L-350) forms the bag bottom by sealing the film in a radial star pattern. This distributes stress evenly across the base, making the bag significantly more resistant to puncture and leakage — the preferred format for kitchen waste, food scraps and heavier-duty applications. Star-seal bags are also rolled for dispensing.

If your target market is standard household bin liners for retail, C-fold is the more common format. If your buyers prioritise bag strength and leak resistance, star-seal is the better choice.

What film thickness range do bag making machines accept?

Accepted film thickness varies by machine type. As a general reference across the LayerQuestar range:

T-shirt / vest bag machines: typically 0.008–0.04 mm (8–40 µm)
Courier bag machines: typically 0.04–0.16 mm (40–160 µm)
Garbage bag machines (C-fold / star-seal): typically 0.008–0.04 mm (8–40 µm)
Drawstring bag machines: HDPE 0.007–0.02 mm / LDPE 0.02–0.05 mm
Continuous roll bag machines (LQ-CRB): 0.008–0.025 mm (8–25 µm)

Always confirm the specific thickness range for the model you are evaluating, as it varies by machine series and configuration.

Does LayerQuestar provide installation and commissioning support?

Yes. LayerQuestar provides remote commissioning support via video call, email and WhatsApp for all machine types. Step-by-step installation documentation and wiring diagrams are supplied with every machine, with all labelling in English.

On-site commissioning visits are available for customers who require in-person installation support or operator training. Contact us to discuss your location and requirements.

What is the warranty on LayerQuestar bag making machines?

The LQ-GB2L-350 star-seal garbage bag machine carries a 3-year parts warranty. Warranty terms for other models in the range are 12 months on parts, with lifelong after-sales service covering repair support, technical consultation and operator training.

Wear consumables — sealing wire, cutting blades, belts — are not covered under warranty as they are subject to normal production wear. LayerQuestar stocks these parts for rapid dispatch. Contact us for specific warranty terms on the model you are considering.
