LQ-8S Series 8-Color Flexo High Speed Printing Machine

8–120 m/min Speed
Overview

LQ-8S — Machine Overview

The LQ-8S Series is an 8-color high-speed flexographic printing machine and the flagship of Layerquestar's flexo printing lineup, extending the 2-, 4-, and 6-color series with full 8-color process capability for complex brand graphics, photographic-quality retail packaging, and CMYK-plus-spot-color production.

Available in four substrate widths — 600mm, 800mm, 1000mm, and 1200mm — the series operates at up to 120 m/min with stepless VFD speed control from 8 m/min, delivering approximately 18,000 bag-length impressions per hour at full speed on a 400mm repeat.

The synchronous belt drive system maintains precise registration across all eight color stations by eliminating the backlash and vibration inherent in chain-driven systems — a non-negotiable requirement when 8-color overlay misalignment of even 0.1mm is visible to the naked eye.

An EPC (Edge Position Control) hydraulic auto-correction system on the unwind station continuously maintains lateral substrate alignment without operator intervention, critical at speeds approaching 120 m/min.

The dual-zone blow-and-heat drying system with central constant-temperature control accommodates the full substrate range from thin 20μm PE film through heavy paper and woven bags without manual oven reconfiguration. A dedicated cold air bellows cooling section immediately follows the drying zone, rapidly setting the ink before rewinding to prevent blocking and color migration on the finished roll.

Impression rollers are manufactured from special steel with 10-wire hard chromium electroplating for surface hardness of 900–1100 HV, providing exceptional wear resistance and ink solvent resistance across continuous multi-shift operation. Aluminum alloy guide wheels undergo hard anodization plus dynamic and static balancing treatment, minimizing lateral drift and substrate edge damage at high speed.

All four models share identical mechanical architecture, drive system, and feature set — substrate width is the sole differentiator.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about the LQ-8S. For configuration-specific questions, contact our engineering team directly.

What is the printing speed of the LQ-8S Series?

The LQ-8S Series operates at a maximum speed of 120 m/min with stepless VFD speed adjustment from 8 m/min, allowing operators to optimize speed for job setup, short runs, and full-volume production.

What materials can the LQ-8S Series print on?

The LQ-8S Series supports PE film, PP film, kraft paper, coated paper, woven PP bags, and non-woven fabric across all four models.

What is the widest model in the LQ-8S Series?

The LQ-1200S handles substrates up to 1200mm wide with a maximum printing width of 1160mm (45.7"), making it the widest model in the Layerquestar flexo printing lineup.

What plate thickness does the LQ-8S Series accept?

The machine accepts plates from 1.14mm to 3.94mm, covering thin digital photopolymer plates for fine-detail work through thick conventional plates for bold solid-coverage printing.

How does synchronous belt drive improve 8-color registration?

Synchronous belt drive eliminates the backlash and vibration of chain-driven systems across all 8 color stations. In 8-color overlay printing, misalignment of even 0.1mm is visible — the non-slip belt transmission maintains the registration precision required for complex brand graphics and process color work.

What is EPC and why is it important at high speeds?

EPC (Edge Position Control) is a hydraulic auto-correction system on the unwind station that continuously adjusts lateral substrate position without operator intervention. At speeds approaching 120 m/min, manual web correction is impractical — EPC is essential for maintaining color registration and reducing substrate waste.

How does the cold air bellows prevent ink blocking?

After the drying zone, a dedicated cold air bellows section rapidly cools the ink before the substrate is rewound. This prevents ink-to-ink adhesion (blocking) and color migration between layers on the finished roll — a common defect in high-speed multi-color printing without active cooling.

How do I choose between the LQ-600S, LQ-800S, LQ-1000S, and LQ-1200S?

All four models share identical speed, drive system, drying technology, and feature set. Select based on maximum substrate width: 600mm, 800mm, 1000mm, or 1200mm. Machine weight scales from 5,000 kg to 6,500 kg across the range.

What is the machine weight of the LQ-8S Series?

The LQ-600S weighs 5,000 kg, LQ-800S 5,500 kg, LQ-1000S 6,000 kg, and LQ-1200S 6,500 kg. Reinforced flooring or a concrete foundation pad is recommended for all models.

Where does the LQ-8S Series fit in a bag production line?

The LQ-8S Series is positioned after blown film extrusion or roll stock supply and before the bag making machine. Workflow: film/paper production → 8-color flexo printing → bag making. It can also operate offline on pre-made rolls from external suppliers.
